Home for Children and Adolescent / J. MAYER H. Architects + Sebastian Finckh Located near the edge of the forest in Hamburg, a new residential building is now finished as a home for children and adolescents. The characteristics of the building are based on a two colour relief facade embracing a compact house volume. Top Towers / Königsberger Vannucchi This project in São Paulo, Brazil, demanded the design of two office towers in a terrain of relatively difficult occupation, because of its narrow and elongated shape. Its location, however, is extremely privileged, situated in the confluence of some of the city’s most important avenues, Paulista Ave., Vergueiro Ave., and Vinte e Três de Maio Ave. The opportunity to the design a new building in such a place also represented a great potential for the creation of a new landmark of great visibility in the city’s skyline (read more…)
CB 30 / Dellekamp arquitectos + Juan Pablo Maza This building has 3 apartments looking onto the street as well as a 2-story house in the back that looks into an interior patio. The public areas are contained in a single space looking out to the street or into the interior void. There is a spectacular tree in front of the building, and a view to the park of Polanco. These conditions became the central design objective, as we wanted to flood the interior out to the street and the park (read more…)
Monte Elbruz Building / Garduño Arquitectos The lot was located in a difficult area, originally classified as high-density and was already fully developed, adjoining buildings 14 to 30 stories high. The regulations were later changed and, when the project was being designed, the limitation considered a maximum of six levels plus a roof garden (read more…)
Block 16 / René van Zuuk Architekten Block 16 is part of the master plan designed by OMA for a new prestigious city centre in Almere. The autonomous expressive block reacts on two conditions: the billowing end marks as a kind of gatekeeper the harbour entrance. At the other end the movement is smoothened and the building fits in with the right-angled grid of the adjacent glass high-rise housing blocks.
